Category Archives: 'Show but do not tell'

In the ongoing project ‘Show but do not tell’ I combine images and sometimes text to shift the viewers attention from the figurative to focus rather on the interaction of colours and (new) forms playing with images from the news and the prejudices that come with those. As Hannes Wallrafen once put it; ‘a graphic designer who not uses a pencil to communicate but photography.’ Capturing these graphics, which are almost always made in everyday life, are sometimes created by staging the image or achieved by accident. These accidents are not uncommon and sometimes the combinations are pure coincidence. ‘Show but do not tell’ keeps me to have a critical view on storytelling and continue to amaze me. It leads to new discoveries in how our context/background influences in what we (want to) see .
